The Ghostly Connection

The Hungry Ghost Festival is a Chinese tradition celebrated on the seventh lunar calendar month where ghosts and spirits are believed to emerge from the lower world to visit earth.

It is also believed that the festival is celebrated to appease the souls that is released to the world on this date.

As ghostly as it can be to some, it is also a celebration of life and death, a time to make peace with self and the dead and an opportunity to pray for the dead and for self.

For me, it’s a story of the connection between the elements of life and death, peace and hope, joy and fear shown through lights, colors and motion.
